Collective Action on Land Lines (CALL) is pleased to be working with Justin Le Patourel and Mishcon de Reya.
Justin Le Patourel is seeking the permission of the Competition Appeals Tribunal (the "Tribunal") to represent Class Members in this action against BT.
Justin has spent a large portion of his career addressing issues faced by consumers within the telecoms industry, having worked at Ofcom for thirteen years from 2003 to 2016. During this time, he held senior roles, including Head of Market Intelligence, and Consumer Policy and Protection Principal, a role focused on empowering and protecting telecoms consumers.
Since leaving Ofcom, Justin now chairs the UK Mobile Number Portability Operator Steering Group and advises on introducing and improving processes to help consumers switch easily from one telecoms provider to another, in order to get a better deal. He also works on policies to help bring ultra-fast fibre broadband to more rural parts of the UK.
These experiences have given Justin an in-depth understanding of the motivations, behaviours and difficulties faced by telecoms consumers, particularly those who are vulnerable, older or less comfortable with technology.
Mishcon de Reya ("Mishcon") is a law firm founded in 1937 and based in London and Singapore. It has one of the largest litigation teams in London.
Mishcon has extensive experience working on group actions and seeking redress for consumers. Mishcon is providing legal support to Justin in his claim before the Tribunal. Mishcon is one of the few law firms with experience of bringing competition claims (such as CALL) successfully to Court in the UK.
